“It is not only the number of links you have pointing to your site that matters, but also the quality and relevance of those links,” says Google. “Creating good content pays off: Links are usually editorial votes given by choice, and the buzzing blogger community can be an excellent place to generate interest.” Therefore your only true alternative is proper, organic link building to give yourself more good links and to help you redeem yourself in front of the almighty Google.

However, keeping in mind that Google is policing links a lot more now, so you don’t want to throw in 1000 new links this month to try and turn things around. We recommend slow and steady link building – a few new links per month, wait, check your rankings and see if they’ve improved, then repeat. Slowly increasing the number of links per month as needed.
